WIKI:
"Hudson Heights is a residential subsection of the Washington Heights area of Upper Manhattan, New York City. Many of the residences are in apartment buildings, many of which are cooperatives, and most were constructed in the 1920s through 1940s. The Art Deco style is prominent, along with Tudor Revival.   The neighborhood is located on top of a high bluff overlooking both the Hudson River on the west and the Broadway valley of Washington Heights on the east, and includes the highest natural point in Manhattan, located in Bennett Park. At 265 feet (81 m) above sea level, it is a few dozen feet lower than the torch on the Statue of Liberty."

This full service restaurant doubles as an espresso and wine bar. Come down for taco night on Mondays and the brunch is really delightful. When the food is consistently this good, you know you're going to get a good meal. Try the chicken schnitzel, which is one of their most popular dishes.

New Leaf

Ideal for a casual locally-sourced  meal any time of day this cottage-styled restaurant dating back to the 1930s tucked away in Fort Tryon Park and a short walk to The Met Cloisters.  Brunch in any season here is a delight. We have our favorite dishes, like Croque Madame, and you are sure to find yours, too! As an added "feel good" bonus, a fixed portion of gross revenue is donated to local charitable partners.

Owners Elias and Sarina roast their organic, fair-trade Ethiopian beans once a week to ensure they serve up the freshest tasting coffee you can find.
Reclaiming the tradition of coffee houses, as captured in Sarina's book "The Coffeehouse Resistance", available at the shop, Cafe Buunni has become hub for local organizing and action.

French

The Pandering Pig

209 Pinehurst Ave

@ W 187th St
$$
Blending inventive renditions of classic french cuisine with a distinctly northern Californian flair, this little gem of a restaurant may be one of Hudson Heights best kept secrets. Executive chef & owner Nicole and her husband and wine director Senator - that's his name, not his title - have bring their passion for cooking into each meal for a truly wonderful dining experience. For an exceptional treat, try the "Poulet de Sonoma"!

btwn Cabrini & Pinehurst
$$
Serving up handmade pasta dishes, this southern Italian gem has delicious food and a rustic, warm and intimate vibe to go with it to make for a memorable dining experience. It's no wonder this restaurant is so popular in the Heights. The back patio during the warmer seasons is delightful. Try the Tagliata Toscano, a wonderful thin-sliced skirt steak with arugula, parmigiano and balsamic vinegar. Top it off with a scrumptious dessert.

Latin American

With a trendy and modern uptown vibe, Altus is constantly raising the bar on cuisine and service to exceed their guests' expectations and they certainly succeed at both! Executive chef Jose Castillo turns everyday, fresh ingredients into delicious and rich Asian and Latin Continental dishes that will have you coming back for more. There is so much good food to choose from so we suggest you try the "Chef's Special for Two" to get the full experience of Jose's cooking magic.

Mexican

Refried Beans

@ W 187th St
$-$$
For more than 10 years, this popular Mexican grill has been serving up classic, homemade and authentic cuisine. The outstanding service is only surpassed by the excellent food while your eyes feast on the abundance of paintings hanging on the warmly colored walls. Come in for "Margarita Mondays", "Fajita Tuesdays" or "Two for Wednesdays", where your prefixed choices come at a price your wallet will love.

Pizza

Fresco's Pizzeria

804 W 187th St

@ W 187th St
$
Fresco's may just look like your  contemporary counter-serve pizzeria but the fresh ingredients make the pizzas melt in your mouth, making this a very popular spot to grab a slice or order a pie. We love the specialty pizzas but if you're a purist, try the classic cheese for a real winner.

Pub Grub

Le Cheile

839 W 181st St
@ Cabrini Blvd
** $

The closest English definition to this Gaelic word is "together" and that describes the energy and vibe of this eclectic Irish-themed pub, serving up some very satisfying pub grub and American cuisine in an unhurried atmosphere. So order up a Guinness and have a seat for some excellent traditional irish dishes - try the "Bangers & Mash" - or comfort food.
